Most lawn fungal diseases thrive in warm, humid conditions — typically late spring through autumn. Dollar Spot, Brown Patch and Pythium are most common in summer, while Fusarium and Fairy Ring can appear year-round. Watch for circular brown patches, water-soaked lesions, or white/grey fungal growth in the morning dew.
Preventative: Apply before disease appears, when conditions favour development (warm, wet weather). Curative: Apply after disease symptoms first appear. Repeat applications every 14–28 days if conditions continue to favour disease.
Either works. Garden sprayer gives more even coverage and is faster for large areas. Watering can is simpler for small treatment areas but uses more water (9L per 10m² vs 5L per 100m²). Always ensure thorough, even coverage.
Most lawn fungicides give 14–28 days protection per application. Systemic fungicides (Impala, Tribeca) move within the plant and last longer than contact fungicides like Chlortan. Rotate between different active ingredients to prevent resistance.
It depends on the disease target. For leaf diseases, let the spray dry on the leaf — don't water in. For root diseases, irrigate within 1 hour of application with about 6mm of water so the product reaches the root zone.
