Frequently Asked Questions

How do I measure my lawn area?

Multiply length × width for rectangular areas. For irregular shapes, break the lawn into rectangles and add the areas together. The calculators work in square metres (mÂČ) — most Australian home lawns are 100–800 mÂČ.

What's the difference between mL/100mÂČ and L/ha?

They mean the same thing: mL per 100mÂČ Ă— 100 = L per hectare. Our calculators use mL/100mÂČ because home lawns are measured in square metres, not hectares.

How does the bottle recommendation work?

When a product comes in multiple bottle sizes, the calculator picks the option with the lowest total cost — including any extra bottles needed for full coverage. Sometimes one larger bottle is cheaper than several small ones.

Should I use the low or high rate on the label?

Most labels give a rate range. Use the low rate for routine maintenance or light infestations, and the high rate for severe infestations or stubborn weeds. Always read the product label for full directions.

Are the calculator rates accurate?

Yes — every rate comes directly from the official product label. Always cross-check against the bottle before applying and follow all safety directions on the label.

Why do I need to know my grass type for some products?

Some products (particularly plant growth regulators like Primo HG and Astro 120 ME, and pre-emergents like Propyzamide) use different application rates depending on the grass species. Buffalo, Couch, Kikuyu, Fescue and Ryegrass all respond differently.
