Why Barricade

Stop weeds before they ever come up

Barricade is a pre-emergent. It lays a barrier in the soil that stops weed seeds establishing, so you prevent the weeds instead of chasing them once they are up.

  • 480g/L Prodiamine, a proven pre-emergent active
  • Targets Winter Grass (Poa annua), Summer Grass and crowsfoot
  • One application keeps working for up to 6 months
  • Suits established Couch, Kikuyu, Buffalo and Zoysia
How to use

Three steps to a weed barrier

1
Measure and mix

Work out your area, then mix Barricade at the label rate into water in your sprayer.

2
Spray evenly

Cover the whole area in one even pass so the barrier is consistent.

3
Water in

Water it in afterwards. A pre-emergent has to be watered in to settle into the soil and form the weed barrier.

Questions

Good to know

What does a pre-emergent actually do?+
It stops weed seeds from establishing. Barricade lays a barrier in the top of the soil so that as weed seeds try to germinate, they cannot get going. It prevents weeds rather than killing ones that are already there.
When should I apply it?+
Before the weeds germinate. Apply in autumn to prevent Winter Grass and other winter weeds, and in late winter to early spring to prevent summer weeds. The barrier needs to be down before the seeds wake up.
Do I need to water it in?+
Yes. A pre-emergent has to be watered in after spraying so it settles into the soil and forms the weed barrier. Without watering in, it will not work properly.
Is it safe for my lawn?+
Barricade suits a wide range of established lawns, not just warm-season turf. Turf tolerance and rates vary by grass type and situation, so always check the label for your grass type before you apply, and follow the rate it gives.
It already controls weeds I can see, right?+
No. Barricade does not kill weeds that are already up. For weeds already growing, knock them down first with something like Bow & Arrow, then use Barricade to stop the next lot coming through.
How long does it last?+
One application gives up to 6 months of residual prevention, so a well-timed spray covers you through the season.

Stop the weeds before they start

Lay the barrier down at the right time and prevent the weeds instead of chasing them all season. Up to 6 months from one spray.
