As we move out of the slower winter season and into spring, it’s time to get excited about your lawn again! I’m keen to see some growth and help you gear up for a fantastic lawn season. To set yourself up for success with minimal hassles, it’s crucial to apply a pre-emergent to keep weeds at bay and an insecticide to fend off grubs and insect damage. Make sure to complete this by the end of August to hit the sweet spot for application.
Pre-emergents are herbicides designed to prevent weed seeds from germinating, effectively stopping weeds before they can establish in Spring and compete with your lawn for nutrients, water, and sunlight. Applying pre-emergents just before spring or in early spring is crucial because it targets the weed seeds during their germination phase, creating a protective barrier in the soil that prevents them from sprouting. This proactive approach ensures a healthier, more resilient lawn by reducing the weed population early in the growing season, allowing your grass to thrive without the stress and competition from unwanted plants.
Barricade is ideal for larger yards. It offers excellent coverage and long-lasting weed prevention this Spring
Spartan is an excellent choice if you need a smaller quantity. It’s just as effective and perfect for smaller lawns this Spring
Oxstar is the best option for brand-new turf. It adds nutrients to your fresh lawn while providing weed control this Spring
Acelepryn is a powerful insecticide specifically formulated to target and control black beetle grubs, which are notorious for damaging lawns by feeding on grass roots. Applying Acelepryn in early spring is essential because it coincides with the grubs’ active feeding period, allowing the insecticide to effectively eliminate them before they cause significant harm. Controlling black beetle grubs early protects your lawn from the root damage that leads to thinning and unsightly brown patches, ensuring a lush, healthy, and robust turf throughout the growing season.
