Laying your new lawn

From bare ground to lawn in three steps

1
Prepare the ground

Kill off the old grass and weeds, level the surface, and spread a layer of quality turf underlay or soil.

2
Lay the turf

Lay it fresh on the day it arrives. Stagger the joints like brickwork, butt the rolls up tight, then roll or tamp it down.

3
Water in

Water deeply straight after laying, then keep it moist daily for the first 2 to 3 weeks while the roots take.

Questions

Good to know

How is it delivered, and how fresh is it?+
It is cut to order and delivered fresh from the farm, sold by the square metre. Have your ground ready so you can lay it the same day it arrives.
How soon can I mow it?+
Wait until the turf has rooted down and no longer lifts when you tug a corner, usually around 2 to 3 weeks. Sir Grange is slow growing, so you will mow it far less after that.
Will it grow in shade?+
Yes. Sir Grange handles up to 75% shade, which makes it one of the best choices for yards with trees or fences. It still needs a few hours of light.
How much water does it need?+
Water deeply right after laying, then daily for the first 2 to 3 weeks. It has medium drought tolerance once established, with low overall water needs.
Is it under warranty?+
Yes. Genuine Sir Grange comes with a Lawn Solutions Australia product warranty certificate and a nationwide 10 year warranty, and it is AusGAP certified.
